By renewing our participation in the Thuringia Sustainability Agreement (Nachhaltigkeitsabkommen Thüringen – NAT), we are consistently continuing our commitment to sustainable and responsible business practices.
To mark WKF-GmbH Metallwarenfabrik’s third participation in the Sustainability Agreement, Mayor Ralf Hauboldt and Lena Kob from the City Marketing and Economic Development Department visited our company on 9 September.
In the presence of the city representatives, Markus Heyn from the Erfurt Chamber of Industry and Commerce presented the NAT certificate to our Managing Director, Alexander Gröger.
The Thuringia Sustainability Agreement is a voluntary initiative between the Thuringian state government and the regional business community. Its objective is to promote sustainable business practices and to increase the visibility of companies that assume responsibility beyond statutory requirements.
In addition to environmental and resource protection and energy efficiency, the agreement also focuses on economic and social aspects.
Sustainability is an integral part of our corporate development.
This is demonstrated, among other things, by our verified environmental management system: WKF has been registered under the European Eco-Management and Audit Scheme (EMAS) since 2019.
As a medium-sized company, we regard sustainable business practices not only as an environmental responsibility, but also as an important element of long-term, future-oriented corporate development.
The visit also provided an opportunity for a personal exchange between Mayor Ralf Hauboldt, Lena Kob, Markus Heyn and our Managing Director Alexander Gröger on the importance of sustainable business practices and the further development of Sömmerda as a business location.
We are pleased that our commitment has once again been recognised and consider our participation in the Thuringia Sustainability Agreement both a confirmation of our efforts and an incentive to continue consistently along the path we have chosen.
The award was also reported in the Official Gazette of the City of Sömmerda, Issue No. 20 dated 30 September 2026, page 12.
